![]() ![]() As you play, before each turn, look which class cards are reasonable to play around, which are usually the class commons. Search for the class you are playing and sort cards by mana cost. If you do not know the cards, go to a website which lists cards by class and look to see what cards could be played on your opponent’s turn, eventually you will not need a list, you will just know. If you don’t know basic game concepts and mechanics, you won’t know why the moves you make are important. If you don’t know the cards, you don’t know how to play around cards and will never win consistently. You need to understand the basic concepts and mechanics of Hearthstone, as well as know the cards and what each class is capable of on any turn, or have access to a list or cards while playing. With that disclaimer out of the way, this is what I did to improve my arena runs. Sometimes your opponent counters every move and you can’t win, let it go when that happens. Do you trade the 6/3 into the 3/2 and guarantee you have the board? You want to play River Crocolisk and a Lost Tallstrider. You will start to see this with experience.Īs an example, if you have a 6/3 minion, and your opponent has a 3/2, this trade is not favorable to you, and you should go face.ĮXCEPTION: You are at 2 HP and the 3/2 minion will kill you next turn, and the 6/3 is your only means of killing it.ĬONSIDERATION: You are playing mage, it is your turn 6 and you went second. Generic guidelines and advice will help and you should be aware of them, but there is so much data which you will use to make your decisions that you will never provide enough when asking for advice because every situation is different. Those guidelines have to be disregarded at some point, the key is knowing when. Nobody can give you a definitive answer to questions like “when to trade or when to go face”. ![]() Knowing the right plays and cleaning up your mistakes is going to increase your win average but a lot early on. You need to understand that Hearthstone is a game of numbers and sometimes the statistically correct play will lose you the game. Sometimes spending your mana efficiently is NOT the best play. These instances are very rare, and over the course of hundreds of drafts, this will not be the case. There will be times when Milhouse Manastorm would have been a better pick than Dr. The one time alarm-o-bot was an MVP in your draft does not mean you should draft it every time. The vanilla advice you get will be wrong at times, and it is easy to fall victim to confirmation bias when bad plays work. I am not going to be giving you gameplay advice here, there is enough of that out on the internet, and I could not possibly type up everything here, but I will stress the following point: THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO EVERY RULE! The “right” play will sometimes cost you games. If you are serious about becoming better at arena, if you are self critical and can handle feedback from others, and most importantly, you are willing to put in the work and can learn from your mistakes, this guide WILL help you. If I only played my top classes, I probably would be infinite, but my goal is to eventually become good at all classes, which hurts my average quite a bit. I don’t consider myself infinite but I never have to farm gold to play arenas and have comfortably been over 2500g for months without playing constructed. I was averaging less than half a win when I made this post: I knew it would be a lot of work so I set goals for myself. ![]() I developed this program because I wanted to become good at Arena. While that advice is great, it does not really advice how to do it properly, which is where this guide comes in! You have probably received the following advice ![]() This guide was written to give you some insight into how I improve my game. It is no surprise that the Arena can be difficult for people who do not have much experience with it, as I went through it myself. ![]()
